Tribal Fusion Belly Dance – These classes consists of foundational movements originating from womanly dance forms of North Africa, the E. Mediterranean, and the Middle-East. Stylistically, we will blend American Tribal styles and Cabaret belly dance with accents of Classical Indian, Flamenco and other “Gypsy” related dances, then fuse them with modern dances such as Pop n’ Lock, Liquid and more. Miranda will guide students of all levels through earthy, grounded postures and fluid, serpentine technique. Newer students are invited to more deeply connect themselves with the flow of the dance with precise technique and fun combos, while advanced students will have a chance to expand their movement vocabulary and learn full choreographies.
Each class will begin with a strengthening, energy cultivating and flexibility building warm-up. Posture; arm placement; head, chest and hip isolations will all be explored. Travel steps will also be introduced as well as layering combos and full choreographies. Miranda takes a holistic approach when teaching this empowering art form: uniting mind, body & spirit.
Please wear form fitted clothing to all belly dance classes, bringing a water bottle and yoga mat are also very useful. Traditionally women wear a shawl or scarf to wrap around the hips to accentuate movements in belly dance. Hip scarves may also be available for purchase from Miranda upon the arrival of class.
